RED ONE™ Pre-Producton.
RentCam has been following the tremendous progress RED has been making, and for good reason.
It is now late December 2006, and RED is delivering on their promise. Several, pre-production "test beds" are assembled, and functioning. See Reduser.net for details from RED's founder, Jim Jannard.
These annoucements follow the rather impressive release of "test bed" footage shot by David Stump ASC and the RED team. Footage includes exposure latitude tests, as well as greenscreen tests. The results of these test, along with full resolution frame grabs, are available for download from Cinematography.net (thanks to Geoff Boyle FBKS, and all CML members and administrators).
Some initial RED ONE™ footage is also available for download, from Redusers.net. The downloads are downsized 1024x560, raw footage, with no torrents or extra programs needed.
The initial delivery of RED ONE™ cameras, expected early 2007, is being anxiously awaited by RentCam, and its clients. Not to mention the additional workflow solutions developed by RED's engineers and technicians, including REDcine™ softwares, and REDdrive™ storage solutions.
2007 should bring some impressive acquisition and camera option for todays DP's, operators, and indie film-makers alike.
